Welcome and step into the first part of our house that’ll greet you.
The feature of our entryway is most definitely the terrazzo tiles. We wanted to demarcate the entryway from the rest of the house by making it more fun but maintain neutrality, hence these brown-toned terrazzo was the perfect fit.
The main goal of the entryway is 100% functionality, aesthetics is just a bonus. Each cabinet was also thoughtfully planned to serve its purpose and I will walk you through it in subsequent photos.
Adjacent to the settee, is the first half height cabinet that stores Ms Z’s footwear. Because there is 3 shelves and the depth of each is quite substantial, Ms Z is pleased that she has the quota to get more shoes :>
I had requested for a shoe niche below the half-height cabinets, for everyday footwear. Best decision for the entryway thus far - because with this, the walking area isn’t cluttered with our footwear.
At the end of the entryway is a full-height cabinet with a display niche. Here, I place decor and an accessory tray to hold my everyday rings and watch.
A reed diffuser is also absolutely necessary for this area as it is the scent that first greets guests.
At the bottom of the niche, is what I call the ‘school’ cabinet. I’m training the kids to ensure that their school bags, school shoes, school file and water bottles are to be kept in here ready to retrieve everyday before school.
It actually requires a lot of discipline and patience to maintain and ensure they abide to this, but I will keep trying.
At the upper right-most part of the cabinet, is where the back-stock of hand soaps, candles and reed diffusers are. It is, quite possibly, my favourite storage compartment in the house, haha.
The adjacent cabinet currently stores Ms Z’s daily work/casual bags, a tray filled with everyday knick knacks such as phone straps and a whole bunch of reusable bags for grocery shopping.
And that’s it for our entryway insights!
