This is another centre piece of our house. As you can see from our handle, you probably could have already tell we love coffee, hence the “beans” 🤣
We did an L-shape bottom cabinet all the way into the service yard, with a floating ledge above to display some items. We did away with top cabinets here, to make the space less congested and feel more open/airy. As you can see, the main part of our kitchen (previous post) already has quite a bit of carpentry.
At the corner, we have some coffee-related accessories, like our Fellow pourover kettle, coffee bean tubes and coffee beans, hand grinder, lotus water on the shelf.
The Samsung music frame speaker here is not intentional, it came free with our frame TV and since we already have a main speaker, we decided to just place it here as display since we have nowhere else to put it anyway 😂 But it actually looks quite good here!
Here we have our Lelit coffee machine and Timemore grinder - both in white. These are actually our existing ones, and we have already decided to standardize them in 1 color previously 😛
Finally at the other end, we have our main sink. This is actually larger than the island sink since its meant to be our primary sink. And yes - our pipes had to be extended to this area, since the original inlet/outlet is at where our hob is.
If you take a look at our previous post on the main kitchen, you will see that we don’t really have a lot of options for where our sink could be, after taking into consideration all the appliances (ovens and fridges) and hob. Hence we ended up placing it here at the corner, plus we also wanted one somewhere near the coffee machine to make it easier for our workflow. The tap being a sensor activated one also helps a lot.
It is actually also back to back with the island sink. Since our sink had to be at this position, and we don’t intend to do top cabinets here, we had to do away with a top hung dish rack as well. We do have a dishwasher for large loads which would dry the dishes as well, otherwise we would dry them manually with a cloth or leave it in this small dish rack (comes with the sink) to dry.
The only inconvenience is that leaving it here makes our sink size much smaller and hard to wash large items like our chopping board. So we sometimes have to move it away when we are cooking. And we might also splash dishwashing soap onto the already clean items that are being dried here 😅 Something for you to consider when designing your sink area.
We also spent a bit more to do concrete support for both sinks to futureproof any damages to carpentry and also an air vent/grille at the bottom of the cabinet doors for some air circulation and prevent dampness.
