Some lessons from our renovation journey—hope this helps new homeowners!
Before choosing materials, have a clear vision of your ideal home. Think about colors, textures (grainy or smooth), and finishes (glossy or matte). I
t’ll make decisions much easier—there are way too many laminates to sort through without a plan.
After choosing a laminate at the showroom, always ask to see a full-size piece.
Small samples can look very different—especially wood grains.
And don’t rely on website photos; laminates come in large sheets, so you won’t see the full color and pattern online.e laminate pattern due to online limitation.
For instance, some wood pattern might look more streaky or have bird's eye grain once you view the bigger piece. This really depends on personal preference.
Last but not least, all the showrooms usually have different temperature lighting for you to view your small laminate sample. You can view them under white/warm light to help your selection process!
Ask for sample pieces to bring home so you can match them with other materials like Corian and tiles. Seeing everything together helps you visualise the overall look.
