Let's talk about kitchen organisation! There is a lot of storage but not every cabinet is utilised and that's fine! It is better to have more than to be lacking after some time. Initially I wanted all pull open cabinets to be drawers or to look like drawers visually but they are casement doors. In the end, this idea was not fulfilled due to finances and also loss of space given up to drawer hinges. Let's take a look at the pull out drawers at my dry pantry area!

Even though ID managed to snag a free cutlery organisation tray for me, it did not fit well into the drawer space. I decided to customise one that fits into the drawer perfectly. Visualise or consider what you have currently and how you will like to place your cutlery. This was designed based on Chef daddy's experience and how it will ease retrieving items. As you can tell, I'm not the neatest person and some items can be placed in a better position. But, I'm very pleased with the quality and how I can sort the others out (when I have the time). From this angle, I love how my laminate matches my vinyl so well.

Second drawer is in a mess and it needs some help (when I have the time again). It stores my supplements, tea, coffee, coasters, paper trash boxes etc. These 2 drawers are the closest to the dining area and this is intentional. Most of the cutlery drawers are nearest to the hob but I decided to shift mine outwards. This is for easy access for guests during meal times when needed. But it also means that when I'm cooking, I will need to take what I need ahead of time to prevent moving back and forth! It gets easier with more cooking sessions.

Next up, let's take a look at what's under or near the hob!

It is very empty (for now) but placing the kitchenware under the hob makes the most sense. You will be able to retrieve your plates and bowls for plating after cooking. Some owners are using racks or pull out system. As of now, I have not decided what I prefer and it's okay to take your time. Do not need to feel the rush to purchase this and that because other homeowners have them. After some time, you'll know your own habits and preferences. That's when you can make wiser and better decisions. Don't hoard!

We have a pull out spice rack right beside the hob as well. This is also for easy access and obviously the seasonings are needed when cooking. However, my spices are not placed here. Surprise surprise! I'll share with you where I have them the next time round and why. Purchase your rack earlier so that your carpenters can help to install this in while putting up the rest of the cabinets!

Next, let's take a look at what's under the sink area!

Under sink is where I place all extra detergents, cleaning agents etc! It's convenient as a one stop station and it's easy to retrieve the cleaning agents as you are washing by the sink! As usual, I have not decided on the type of pull out trays or storage system I will want in this area. Hence, I'm just living out this original morbid system until I figure out what I want.

This is everyone's most hated dead space. I was never into a double pull out drawer system because I cannot clean inside. Whatever I cannot reach to clean means someone else is renting that space to live. My ID has the PERFECT solution to this!

Both casement doors open up wider than 90°!Everything can be accessed easily and cleaned! This also means that I will not have any unwanted temporary residents hiding in the dark. For now, I keep this area as a space to store items meant for mise en place. Yes, I keep my rice cooker after every use and that's the same back at parents' place. This is one way to maintain a clean sleek open kitchen look. It just takes another 10 seconds of effort on our end. This is also where I expose where my switches are! Did you make a correct guess? They are all hidden switches that do not require you to open any casement doors to switch them on. Just reach from under and you'll be able to turn the switches on. They can only be seen if you have shorter guests or if you bend down. When doing up electrical plan, I decided to go full force OCD and neat by placing ALL switches in one area. This includes lights under cabinet, hob, oven and additional electrical points for items such as blender, rice cooker etc. It's another one stop station! My ID did wonders and really customised the home to my living habits. Hope you managed to get some ideas here!
