Welcome to our “dining room”! Due to the open concept layout of our flat, we don’t have a clear demarcation between where the dining area starts and ends. 
We positioned the table on a slant in order to fully “activate” the space in front of the door and make the flow between the living and dining spaces more intuitive. To combat the issue of the area not getting any airflow from the ceiling fan, we supplemented the space with a Dyson standing fan. 
We like to soften up the space with table linens and florals so we often have the less utilised side of the table styled with a runner and a fresh/dried arrangement. This also allows us to anchor the space and cluster other items like the tissue paper holder and coasters in an intentional manner that is not messy. 
The best thing about an open concept is that we can adapt the space to our needs! We got this extendable dining table that can go from 150cm (6 seater) to 260 cm (10 seater) which has really come in handy when we host our family and friends, we simply need to pivot the table slightly and we have more than enough space for everyone! 
From this photo, I feel like you can really see how we “activate” the space by slanting the dining table. Before we did so, we often felt like our living room was too constrained and we were ‘wasting’ the space. In addition, because the dining table is in our direct path when we get home, it often also pulls double duty as our package opening area.
