When we purchased this flat, we were unanimous in our decision not to level the entryway with the rest of the house. Setting the foyer at a lower level made it distinct from the rest of the living area, and allowed us a space to reset, before stepping into a place of rest. The main feature in our foyer is definitely this settee - compact, but mighty! It comes with plenty of room for at least 8 pairs of shoes, and a shallow storage area under the seat (which can be lifted up) for small items like a shoe horn and shoe polish. While there isn’t much furniture in the space for now, our foyer is surprisingly more functional than it appears. Yes - that is the entrance to our store. We hacked the original store (which was right in the middle of the living room), and decided to shift it next to the entrance, to let light into our living area. But we also didn’t want to make the store unsightly, since it was the first thing we'd see when we step in. We decided to conceal the store entrance by using a similar language to that of our shoe cabinet. This is the Albatross Teak laminate from EDL Laminates.
