Hello world! We're beaconstrips, a thirty-something husband and wife duo living in a four-room flat at Kim Keat Beacon. As we're both creatives, we both have a love for barang-barang that's retro and playful. We like to incorporate bright and vintage colours into our home and complement them with graphic posters, books, thrifted items, and toys we have collected over the years.

We focused most of our renovation efforts on the kitchen, as we felt that it was a space that had to be catered to both of us. Our renovation cost was 38k.

We had built-in carpentry for our kitchen and a glass door and divider if we decided to close up the kitchen for cooking. We also separated our service yard from the kitchen with a sliding door, as we didn't want our clothes to smell like food if we decided to cook. While the kitchen is primarily a functional aspect of the house, we thought it would be fun to add graphics, toys, and goofy items to the kitchen as it brings much joy to our lives.

One of our favourite features in the house is the glass blocks. The glass blocks bring light into the living room from the kitchen and vice versa. There's something so warm and comforting about how the light hits it, emitting a cozy feel to the home. The wall also has cabinets so we could use it for storage as well.

A friend of ours gifted a wireless lamp and we use the lamp in various places. Sometimes it could be the centrepiece of a banquet, sometimes it could sit on top of our TV console.

Another key feature of our home is the orange lamp that we got from Carousell. We're big Loki fans, and the show has such a wonderful aesthetic from the interior design to the graphics, and this orange lamp gives our home an almost TVA-like feel to it. The mood lighting makes things warm and cozy, perfect for conversations with our guests and friends over dinner.

We intend to put up more framed graphics on our wall in the living room and dining room. However, we're still collating more posters before we commit to an actual layout for our wall. As of now, the posters are on the floor, and we're taking our time to slowly style the wall once we have what is sufficient.

We both love USM for its modular and timeless style. Initially, we didn't intend to have one as we thought it was too expensive; however, we fell in love with this TV console the moment we saw the build and the rich green color. We've used the console in various ways, to store our video game consoles, games, and wires, and featured some barang-barang that showcases our personality, such as our vinyl collection, a One Piece coffee table book, toys, and some K-pop memorabilia. As one of us is a gamer who games primarily on the PS5, the TV was important too. We got a TV that could display vivid colours and a high refresh rate, perfect for couch gaming experience.
