This is actually the biggest room in our home – the master bedroom.
But instead of using it as a bedroom, we decided to give it a whole new purpose. ✨
We’ve transformed it into a multi-functional space:
🏡 Home office – perfect for taking calls and staying focused without distractions
👗 Walk-in wardrobe – a convenient spot to shower and get ready without disturbing anyone who’s still asleep
For now, the space might feel a little underutilised, as most of the furniture here has been repurposed from our previous home. We’re keeping it flexible and open to change as our needs evolve – especially with hybrid working still in the mix (who knows how long that will last?).
One of the main reasons we chose not to use this room as our master bedroom was its layout.
It’s a squarish space, and to maximise the built-in wardrobe area, the bed would have to be positioned directly in line with the bathroom – something we weren’t too keen on.
While shifting the bathroom entrance was an option, it would have added significant cost. Instead, we decided to work around it and repurpose this room for other needs – and it’s turned out to be a great decision!

We went for an L-shaped wardrobe because, honestly, you can never have enough storage, right?
To keep the room feeling open and airy, we chose light-coloured laminates from Lamitak. This not only brightens up the space but also helps the wardrobe blend seamlessly into the room.
The result? It doesn’t feel bulky or overwhelming, even though it offers plenty of storage – exactly what we needed!
Here’s another view of our built-in wardrobe – and as you can see, it’s definitely not a 50/50 split.
More like 70/30… and I’m sure you can guess who’s using more of it! 😅
Notice the fluted panels and the hidden door?
That’s actually the second hidden door we added to our home. It gives us convenient access to the next room while maintaining a seamless flow between the spaces.
We also felt that having two doors side by side would have looked awkward, so this hidden door was the perfect solution!
The hidden door you see here actually leads to Bedroom 2, as per the original floor plan.
The previous owner had hacked away the wall separating the two rooms to create one large master bedroom. The original access to bedroom 2 was from the dining area which was already sealed up by the previous owner as well.
When we moved in, we decided to build up a partition wall to recreate two rooms again – but we left the access to Bedroom 2 via the master bedroom.
The best part about this hidden door? It closes gently on its own. Perfect for those moments when the kids are asleep, and you just want to quietly peek in without waking them!
