🏡 Turning an old 3br rental apartment in D9 into a cozy home
3BR rental to cozy home in D9 🏡🤍

Join us as a newly wed couple documenting our journey of turning this 3br rental condo to our cozy little nest. We’ve moved into our 3 apartment located in District 9 about 4 months ago. This is a spacious 1300sqft home with a rectangular layout and it’s only 5 mins away from the MRT and shopping malls! Here’s a picture of the living room — our favorite space in the home. We were sold on this unit the moment we saw the size of the living area. It’s unusually spacious for a condo, big enough to fit a 10-seater sofa, and for us, that was a perfect. We love hosting family and friends, and this room lets us do that comfortably. Whether it’s movie nights (which happens almost every night), casual hangouts, or a quiet nap on the sofa, this space has become our sanctuary. It’s where we unwind, connect, and make some of our best memories 🤍 The TV Wall 📺 truth be told, I’m not a big fan of our current TV wall setup. Ideally, I’d love to build a proper feature wall; something sleek with hidden wires and built-in shelves, but since this is a rental, we’re holding off on major upgrades. The space itself is great though: it fits an 85” TV comfortably with a 4.5m viewing distance, which makes it perfect for our cozy home cinema nights. Because the wall is so wide, I had to get creative with the empty sides, so I added a faux plant (the crowd favourite when I asked for suggestions) and my little vinyl nook. The visible wires? Definitely not my favourite part. I’ve tried to tidy them up with wire concealers, but they’re still noticeable. For now though, it’s functional, and that’ll do. :) Loving the coffee table we got from Taobao! Travertine always looks timeless ✨ Also, I DIY-ed the fake plant you see there. It’s a 1.8m olive tree, and I bought the ceramic pot and pebbles to give it a more luxe aesthetic. nother favorite corner of mine: the vinyl nook 🪩✨ I love music, seriously, I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t listen to it 🎶 One of my favorite eras is the ’70s and ’80s. I’ve always romanticised the idea of owning a record player and slowly collecting vinyls from all my favorite artists. Now that I have my own space, it’s become a full-blown hobby! This photo captures the very beginning of my collection—it’s grown quite a bit since then, with plenty more to come 😛 Even my cat, @sir.meowvin, seems to enjoy hanging out in this cozy little spot 🤭 WIP ⚠️⚒️ A view of our dining and living room from the entryway! One thing I love about this space is how roomy the dining area is. We can comfortably fit a 2-metre table with 8 chairs, perfect for hosting dinner parties. It also allows us to watch the tv while eating! This set is from Taobao, and while I loved the design, it took forever to arrive… and sadly, it came damaged 😭 (you can see it from the photo) I’ve since ordered a different table (fingers crossed it arrives safely!) and a new carpet too. I’m also adding a sideboard on the opposite wall to complete the dining space. Slowly but surely coming together! 🏡🤍
