Our ultimate pre-renovation guide and timeline covers every prep - from sourcing ideas and measuring our space to picking finishes.
Follow us for more tips and hiccup-free renovation! 💪🔨
1️⃣ Concept Initiation – We kicked off our journey by gathering inspiration from Communa, Pinterest, and Xiaohongshu, making sure the family (aka two of us) agreed on the overall theme of the house.
2️⃣ ID / Contractor Sourcing – Sourced ID and contractors, and prepared a mood board with our floor plan for every meeting. Clear communication upfront saved us tons of back-and-forth later.
3️⃣ Measurements – Accurate measurements are a must if you want pre-fabricated carpentry or plan to purchase furniture ahead of time.
4️⃣ Materials Selection – From laminates, stones, tiles, to other finishes, we pre-shortlisted options online to save time. Just too many to visit .. lamitak, EDL, Admira, Panaplast, Lianhin, Aurastone, etc
5️⃣ 3D Rendering Production – Seeing our ideas come to life in 3D was so exciting! Tip: be super clear with your requirements.. every revision takes time, which may eventually delay the renovation further
6️⃣ Carpentry Pre-Fabrication – Opting for pre-fabrication helped us shorten our renovation timeline and move in sooner.
The most important stage during pre-renovation. Finding the right ID / contractor would make or break your entire renovation journey. Find someone that could vibe with you / your family, and understand your requirements
We visited Lamitak, Panaplast, EDL, Admira, Lianhin, and Aurastone!
Highly recommend scrolling through the vendors’ websites first, and shortlisting a few colors and stones you’d like to see in real life before heading down. This saves tons of time, especially with so many varieties available in the market! (Not complaining though 😅)
