When we went with darker tiles in our master bathroom, we knew it would take quite some work keeping it looking good.
Most of these cleaning products we tried were pretty good at keeping our bathroom sparkly but keeping limescale off the shower tiles was the biggest challenge.
I'm sure most of us have researched removing limescale and most search results would point to either white vinegar or citric acid. Vinegar was out since it smells terrible when sprayed.
Citric acid is easily available and relatively odorless so we went with that. But what dilution do we use? Today we'll test the best concentration for optimal limescale removal... so you don't have to!
This is our test area. We will use 2%/5%/10% citric acid (diluted with water) left on the tile for five minutes, then rinsed off.
We were quite surprised by the results. If 2% works fine to dissolve limescale and there is no need to go with higher concentrations of citric acid. No wiping or scrubbing was needed either.
We also tried it on glass, but the results were inconclusive. We think the glass attracts more soap residue so the acid alone was not able to work well. We would recommend using a regular glass cleaner instead.
What other cleaning experiments would you guys like us to try?
