A walk-in pantry has been on my Pinterest board for years, so having one in our home feels like a little dream come true. 🥹
It's not something you see often in Singapore homes, but I knew it would make everyday life so much easier by keeping the kitchen clutter-free, giving everything its own place, and making cooking a little more enjoyable.
When planning our pantry, we knew we wanted it to be more than just a storage space. We also wanted it to house a few everyday appliances, so we made sure to include power points from the start.
Our toddler's ultra-bulky UV steriliser now lives here instead of taking up precious countertop space. To keep the pantry dry and prevent mould, we also added this tiny dehumidifier from Mayer (a true must-have). It's been 2 years, and we've never had an issue with mouldy food.
Although the pantry may look a little dark in photos, we also installed a white light overhead that we switch on whenever we need to find something. Day to day, though, we prefer leaving it off. Neither of us likes harsh bright white lighting, so we intentionally kept the pantry feeling softer and more cosy.
This section was actually an addition after we noticed a small recessed space beside the beam. I'm so glad we made use of it because it's now the perfect spot for all our longer items.
We're still figuring out the best way to optimise the storage here, but for now, this setup has been working really well! We've been using IKEA baskets and organisers from Muji. More updates to come!
And here's what it looks like from the outside!
One of my favourite things about having a walk-in pantry is that all the everyday clutter stays out of sight and out of mind, keeping the kitchen feeling much calmer.
It also doubles as the perfect hiding spot when I want to enjoy snacks that my toddler definitely can't have. 😂
Would you add a walk-in pantry to your space too?
