Hi Communa fam! Weβre so excited to share our very first post with you π. Weβre a pair of homebodies β total opposites, but somehow it works π Our cozy nest is a 4-room BTO that started as a blank canvas. The Mrs. dreamed up the design, and our ID brought it beautifully to life.
Before shortlisting IDs, we went full Pinterest mode πΌοΈ β compiling moodboards, inspiration pics, and a detailed brief of our needs vs. wants for every corner of the home.
One thing was clear: storage was king. A foyer cabinet became essential for shopping bags, umbrellas, tissues, socks β basically all the little things we tend to forget while rushing out. Now, packing our bags at the foyer is effortless. Goodbye, βI forgot my umbrella againβ moments! ββ¨
The living room is the heart of our home β€οΈ β the place for family gatherings, movie nights, and catch-ups. The Mr. had one non-negotiable: his beloved speakers had to be in the living room. πΆ
The Mrs. had the challenge of making these bulky audio beasts look aesthetic and blend seamlessly into the space.
For the dining room, we wanted to have an extendable table that can host up to 8 pax for gatherings. We have a habit of eating and watching shows at the same time so it's a must to be able to watch TV from the dining table.
As a coffee enthusiast, the Mr wished to have a dedicated corner for coffee making.
We wanted an arch entrance to our room corridor and to have some visual interest at the end of the corridor. We found these inspos on Pinterest and thought it will be cool to incorporate them into our home design.
For the master bedroom, the goal was calm, cozy, and hotel-vibes all around ποΈβ¨
Having once combined a study table and bed in the same room, the Mrs. wanted separate zones for work and rest β no anxiety from unfinished tasks sneaking into relaxation time.
And because sheβs light-sensitive, a curtain pelmet was essential to block early morning sun. βοΈ
Our master bathroom brings those hotel spa vibes home πβ¨
We incorporated shampoo niches and LED cove lighting for a soft, luxurious glow. A wall-to-wall mirror cabinet keeps necessities organized while making the space feel bigger. And of course, wet and dry zones keep everything neat and easy to clean πΏπ¨
The study rooms started simply β a large study table was the priority. We also wanted to have separate study rooms as the Mr.βs electronics could create visual clutter, and we could take work calls without disturbing each other. ππ»
We also wanted to fit in a bed in the study for sick days or midday naps ποΈ
Creating moodboards with all our needs and wants saved so much time when briefing our IDs. They could come prepared during our first meeting instead of having to brief each ID all over again!
