Play and Peace: Clever Ways to Store Toys in the Living Room

Behind the sofa, we’ve left an open stretch of floor for a play mat printed with roads. It’s where tiny toy vehicles zoom and park. This setup keeps the play contained in a dedicated spot while still letting the kids feel part of the main living area. 
One of my favourite parenting hacks is using our TV console drawer for toy storage. The kids can pull it open themselves and grab what they want, but once playtime is over, everything tucks neatly away. No visual clutter — just a calm, tidy living space. 
By blending storage solutions into the living room design, we’ve created a space that respects both adult needs for order and kids’ needs for play. It’s a daily reminder that a home doesn’t have to be “either/or” — it can be both beautiful and family-friendly.
