This little corner of our home started with something quite unexpected.
One weekend, we took our daughter to Qian Hu Fish Farm, planning to let her try longkang fishing, something simple and fun. But we just couldn't catch a single one. Not wanting to disappoint her, my dad made an impromptu decision, and we went home with a full fish tank and 5 rainbow coloured fishes hand-picked by our daughter.
And just like that, we became accidental fish parents.
We got everything we needed at Qian Hu Fish Farm, tank, fish, and all the basics. The staff there were incredibly kind and helpful. They patiently explained everything we needed to know: how much to feed the fish, how to clean the tank, and how to make sure the water is just right. For beginners like us, that made a big difference.
The setup is simple, but it brings so much warmth, peace, and a sense of life into our space. The fish tank sits above our Homestolife side table, and somehow it fits right into our home.
My daughter loves saying good morning to the fishes, and I often find myself just sitting nearby, tea in hand, watching them swim slowly in their little world.
If youāre thinking of creating a fish space at home, Iād say start small. Let it be a simple corner. Choose a few easy to maintain fishes. Keep the setup minimal. And donāt worry if youāre new to it, thereās joy in learning as you go.
