Our display cabinet was specifically built to be deep because of our HUGE LEGOs!! We knew from the start that we were going to buy these sets so we built the cabinet based on how wide these sets were when displayed. This made the room smaller, but we ensured it gave us enough space to move around and recline.
Here's a look into what we display and exactly how big those LEGO sets are. These are the Disney Castle sets (both the old and new)! I'm personally a huge Disney fan, so most of my collection surrounds that.
While we designed the shelves to fit the big LEGOs at the bottom, we knew we still had medium sized sets that were taller to display at eye level. That was how we decided what dimensions we wanted our inner shelves to be! A good piece of advice is if you already have things you want to display, measure them and design your carpentry around it.
We knew we wanted our setups to be side by side, and since we have the same desk and chair, it was easy for us to decide how we wanted things to be arranged and set up! This gives each of us our own little space, while still having the comfort of each other.
