  • KompacPlus? Sintered Stone? Quartz? Why we chose to have them all!
KOMPACPLUS Used for kitchen countertops & backsplash. ➡️ Surface is matte ➡️ Stains are generally easy to remove, which makes cleaning easy. For the occasional tougher stains, the product comes with an eraser & cleaning solution kit that effectively removes them. ➡️ It has been very sturdy so far when we accidentally drop items on it. We actually chose this over sintered stone because we were afraid that we would accidentally drop heavy appliances on it, and it seems that sintered stone is a bit more prone to chipping based on our research! (Though we haven’t tried it on our own so we can’t guarantee this for sure! 🙈) ➡️ Heat resistance seems to be quite high. We place hot dishes served with freshly cooked food on it directly without any issues. However, we do not dare to try putting hot pots and pans on it, since it’s not advisable to do so. ➡️ It may not be as scratch resistant! We tried to open a glass bottle while anchoring it on the KompacPlus with quite a bit of force, which resulted in some scratches. But otherwise, the rest of the countertop is still very much scratch-free, so as long as nothing too intense is done on it, it should be fine :) ➡️ When chopping on a chopping board, it can be quite loud because of the “hollowness” of the material. While we’re okay with that, some homeowners may be more particular about this factor so do take into account this! :)

SINTERED STONE Used for peninsula. ➡️ Surface is matte. ➡️ Stains are removed almost effortlessly. Tough stains only occur very rarely and we remove them with CIF. ➡️ Not sure about how chip resistant it is since we tend to be more careful about not dropping items on it after learning about how it’s more potential to chipping. ➡️ Very heat resistant. We’ve tried putting hot pots, plates and bowls with no issues! ➡️ Seems to be very scratch resistant as marketed. While we have done many crafts with scissors & pen knives on our peninsula, we did not cut or scratch the countertop directly 🫢 But the countertop looks as good as new even after a year, so we suppose it’s pretty scratch resistant considering how well-used it is! One of the reasons why we chose sintered stone for our peninsula is because we foresee using it for all sorts of activities, so we want it to be able to withstand stains & scratches well :)

QUARTZ Used for bathrooms’ countertops. ➡️ Surface is glossy. ➡️ Stains are easily removed. However, do note that apart from our mouthwash that is coloured, our bathroom countertops do not experience liquid spills/stains as much as our Kompacplus & Sintered Stone countertops purely because of where they’re located. From our understanding, Quartz is a little less stain resistant than the other two, which is why we decided to only install them in our bathrooms, where tough stains are unlikely to occur compared to in the kitchen where we can expect all sorts of sauces & liquids. ➡️ We are also unable to testify it’s chip resistance, but all’s good for us so far! ➡️ Heat resistance seems to be okay too. For context, the hottest item we’ve placed directly on it without issues is a hot hair dryer. ➡️ Scratch resistance seems to be okay too! Again, there isn’t much intensive activities going on on our bathroom countertops so do take this into account :)
