Living in our relatively tiny spaces in Singapore, storage is key :-)
How we’ve done it:
- Plan out what kind of storage you need before starting reno! For example, we knew we needed a few shallow drawers for things like cutlery, ziplock bags, cooking utensils etc, and we spaced them around the kitchen and in our island cabinet.
- We keep our cooking utensils near the induction rather than in the island, so we can reach for it more easily. For this drawer we opted for an extendable kitchen tray rather than boxes in fixed sizes, for maximum flexibility.
- We keep our heavy dishes in the lowest drawer so that we don’t have to expend so much effort in getting to them. These are kept in dish racks which we bought from Taobao after measuring precisely the length we can accommodate in the drawer.
- Our alcohol situation is still a WIP — we have a separate cupboard for wine which is stored horizontally in a wine rack, but these we keep upright as some of them are open.
- We have our kitchen towel in a hook and in the cupboard so that it looks less messy from the outside.
