Our Kitchen Sink - my favourite item in the kitchen and probably one that francis put a lot of research into!
Before we dive into our review into our sink, I thought giving some context will be useful!
1. Mount type
After evaluating the various mounting type for sinks, we decided on flush mount because it's the easiest to clean! From what we understand, not all vendors might be willing to do this mount type for you (because it's complex!) but what you have to do is to just insist on it HAHA. We insisted on it for ourselves and they eventually said ok with an additional $200 charge (exp but no regrets though)
2. Size Matters
Countertop space was very important to francis so I'm actually quite shocked that he chose such a big sink! But he really wanted it to be able to fit our biggest oven tray!
It's not very clear in this image but our oven tray could fit with some allowance even when we have metal rack at the left for our soap and sponge (the rack came as an accessory with our sink!)
3. Single vs Double Bowl
Double bowl lets you separate clean/dirty areas and allows you to soak your dishes, but we chose single bowl since we need the space to wash large oven trays and woks and we don't use the soaking method to wash dishes
4. Material
While granite and quartz look premium, and gunmetal is super stylish, we went with stainless steel for its durability and ease of cleaning and maintenance (our previous owners had a $800+ made in Germany granite sink which had stains over time without regular maintenance)
Our sink also came with foldable drying racks (below oven tray!). This is a life saver, especially during meal prep days (we normally prepare 12 meals in a row) or when we are hosting!
It also comes with a washing tray where you can wash your vegetables or fruits! This is 3 packets worth of spinach that I painstakingly plucked :''')
It also comes with a chopping board (see photo below).
Best of it all, we have dirty dishes hiding below in our sink and you can't see it at all!
Our honest experience with this sink:
✅ Honeycomb embossing makes it scratch resistant
✅ Sound insulation: go knock on it at the showroom, you'll see what we mean!!
✅ Curved corners which means easier to clean so +10 points!!
✅ Local Retailer - we didn't want to buy on taobao because we were afraid of warranty or installation issues
❌ No faucet ledge which means water can drip on countertop however it isn’t that bad for us, our countertop remains fairly dry most of the time!
❌ The wooden chopping board that came as an accessory got worn out quite fast - we couldn’t really find another one with the exact dimensions to replace it but our workaround is to use wood polish every 2 months to maintain it's quality
