Laminate selection was one of the toughest yet most satisfying parts of our renovation journey ✨
I had my preferences, my husband had his — so we went through a lot of samples and even visited the LamiTAK showroom to decide together.
In the end, we kept it simple — just two laminate tones throughout the home:
One pattern design and One wood grain.
For the living and kitchen, since both areas are connected, we used:
✨ DXP 1390MD for the main surfaces — a cream tone with a soft concrete texture.
(I chose it because pure solid colors tend to show fingerprints easily, but this one feels “lived-in” and forgiving.)
✨ WY 5214D for the bottom kitchen cabinets — a warm wood grain that hides water marks better.
✨ For the master bedroom and bathroom, we used DXP 1391MD —
similar to DXP 1390MD but slightly warmer in tone, adding a cozy touch to the room.
For the master bathroom mirror cabinet, only the basin doors are in mirror finish —
the rest remain laminate, since mirrors need constant cleaning and our bathroom still has the original HDB tiles.
Keeping it matte felt calmer and more cohesive with the space.
If you’re like me — someone who prefers low maintenance —
fewer mirror finishes definitely make life easier 😂
✨ WY 5214D for the bottom kitchen cabinets — a warm wood grain that hides water marks better.
For the common bathroom feature door, I originally wanted the same DXP 1390MD,
but my husband preferred DXP 1387BS, which has a coarser texture.
so I compromised (and now I actually like it 😂).
