After weeks of house viewings, we have finally secured our first home!! 😭😭 feels so unreal making our biggest purchase of our life yet and yet it comes with another tiring yet essential process which is home renovation 🏠
One of the biggest renovation decisions to make — should we go with an Interior Designer or a Main Contractor?
Here’s what I’ve learned after weeks of research + asking around 👇
ID = Full design + project management, but comes at a higher cost (usually comes with price markups of around 10-20%)
Contractor = Cheaper and flexible, but you’ll need to manage most of the process!
We’re still in the decision-making stage — however we are leaning more towards engaging an ID, since this is our first home, and we are both not very artsy kind of people, so we will need someone who can come up with the designs and guide us through the whole renovation journey!! However, we will update again once we’ve finalised things!
Hope this post helps those of you in the same boat!!
Have you decided on ID vs contractor? Would love to hear your experience!
