Hello! I’m Ching - you’ll find me on Instagram at @millennialmeetsyellow but this was a little too long for Communa usernames.
I’m a wedding florist and I’ve grown to love colour so much in my work, so when planning the house I knew I wanted to introduce it comfortably in the living spaces.
Our living area is long and narrow- at 3m wide and 6.2m long, the usual full-length carpentry wouldn’t be feasible.
I trawled Pinterest for months begging our ID to suggest something we could do that wasn’t open shelving…but when IKEA released their Byakorre, which is a release of their famous GUIDE shelf from the 80s and similar to their coveted Enetri, the colours were too good to resist. Open shelving it was.
I see the shelf each time I walk from the hallway and from our dining table. At night, it’s oddly satisfying though could definitely do with a little more ambient lighting on the shelf itself- please let me know if you guys have any tips!!
And for our first Christmas at home, I decided to deck it out with branches of pine to dry. We’d come home to the house smelling of pine for days and even my husband misses this arrangement now. (He wanted me to title this post “Tree Days of Christmas”…)
If you guys bought pine for the home last Christmas, let me know how you found it! ☺️
