Hello welcome to our Home Tour (render version!)! Our house is a 4-room HDB, 1087 sq ft, and we were lucky enough to get a corner unit! The bad part was that the house was 26 years old and in TERRIBLE shape so we really had to strip it down to the bones and start over - which explains the $90+k price tag. Honestly most of the money went to wet works.. 😭 so we actually ended up with a pretty simple layout and filled up most of the aesthetic with furniture and decor!

We did choose to splurge a little on terracotta tiles for the entryway simply because we liked a little differentiation between the entrance and the living/dining area. It was just more visually pleasing to us and made the house look somewhat bigger with “more sections”. As written in my previous post about how our render put in our actual purchases.. this all turned out about 90% of what our house looks like now.

Our dining room and (though not quite visible here) living room are actually pretty close to each other. They were supposed to be further apart… However, as mentioned before, we decided to fengshui our house and there wasn’t supposed to be anything “blocking the abundance” entering from the front door to the master bedroom door so we had to move the dining room over to the living room area quite a bit. At the start it felt a bit annoying and ridiculous to me but now I’ve gotten used to it and actually quite enjoy the space and flow around. We compromised very slightly but now the house does feel slightly larger because of the large space between the kitchen, dining room and master bedroom. Guess Fengshui really does have its reasons.

To the right of the dining table is the cat’s bedroom (yes haha) and the dry pantry before the kitchen.

In concept the ID made a pretty cosy cat room… but irl right now (after living here for only a week or two).. it’s still a storeroom LOL. Also this cat room was made so we had somewhere to keep the cats when noisy/stressful work was going to be done in the house or if we had to do cleaning and wanted them out of the way first. IRL the cats get to live wherever they want around the house and sleep wherever they want (besides the kitchen, service yard and toilets).. we’ve only kept one of them in there post their recent dental surgery so they don’t fight lol. We’ll do another update when things are more settled in.

We added shaker doors for the kitchen simply because… we wanted to lol. We grew up with very western influences and we liked that look. Contrary to some review we’ve actually found them very easy to clean and wipe down.

On the prep side of the kitchen with the sink, we opted for open shelving because the husband wants to show off that he can cook 🤷🏻‍♀️ so he wanted a way to display all his utensils and pots and pans etc. Believe me, I’m still finding a way to neaten things sob. The floors are wood tiles in herringbone pattern, not vinyl. They were more pricey but tiles meant we could scrub a little better.

The wood tiles follow out to the service yard as well. The only difference for the service yard is that it doesn’t show our stacked washing machine and dryer.. and the Steigen should be facing the door vertically.

Due to a certain fengshui belief that I originally heard… toilets had to be extremely simple and non-fancy and hence my common toilet looks so simple. And while it 50% doesn’t look like this render, it is still this simple.. which kills me inside. I was really upset about the toilet for awhile. However, I’ve now heard otherwise from the fengshui master so I’ll be doing up my plain toilet nicely with accessories keke 🤪.

And now, for the most often used view in my posts so far, my master bedroom. If you’ve seen one of my videos/posts, the door is customized to have 2 cat flaps (where the squares are) at the bottom. You won’t be able to tell just by looking at it - which is the beauty of it all! The glass blocks and glass panel were the husband’s idea as he wanted more light in the house and felt having a wall would’ve severely limited how bright the living and dining area would be.

From inside the study room is also pretty straightforward. There’s just a desk and a cabinet behind.

Linked in front of the study room is our master bedroom which… 50% doesn’t look like this too because we changed our mind about the lights and the bed frame! For some reason… TB mostly only sells bed frames WITH beds and their sizings for queen were so different???? We couldn’t understand why because we loved their design options.. but we gave up and just bought ours from Ruma Home instead.

Since we broke down 2 bedrooms to create 1 large master + study room.. we actually had quite a bit of space left to create a “walk-in wardrobe” space which does feel pretty good and airy! Love how the render included our “dirty clothes rack” lol. It is real, it does exist… except it is now placed by the window instead haha.

As per the previous fengshui concept.. this bathroom is also pretty minimal. Through the rooms and kitchen.. you’d notice everywhere is wood tiles. I love the look of parquet but am HORRIBLY afraid of mold and 3 cats would just scratch the hell out of the floor… so the wood looking tiles was our best option ✨.

I would say this is the ONLY rendering pov that 90% doesn’t look like this AT ALL anymore lol. We changed our the countertop design to match the kitchen and decided to build in a large mirror cabinet on top instead. But that’s a show for another day 😉.
