Welcome to our first extensive home tour post.
We thought it would be helpful to first share what went into our renovation, as some of the works are not immediately obvious from the photos alone, which contributes to the overall cost of around 70k.
Some of the key works include:
• Carpentry across the foyer, pantry, kitchen, bedroom and both bathrooms
• Full makeover of one bathroom, including overlaying wall and floor tiles
• Re-tiling of the kitchen floor
• Full false ceiling throughout the house
• Sintered stone in kitchen, pantry, toilets and tv console
• Combining the yard and kitchen to form one continuous space
• Adding ceiling lights and fans in two empty bedrooms
A large part of our renovation focused on spatial planning, carpentry, and improving how the space functions for our daily routines, rather than purely aesthetic changes — which may not always be obvious at first glance, but has made a big difference in how we live in the space.
1️⃣ Entrance Display Shelf
At the edge of the carpentry, a small display shelf quietly frames the foyer. We rotate plants, books, and little objects here from time to time, so the space changes slightly with the seasons and never feels too static.
2️⃣ Entrance Foyer
Our dedicated foyer holds a full stretch of carpentry that keeps shoes and everyday items neatly out of sight. A loose bench tucks perfectly into the corner for us to sit down to put on our shoes together before heading out each day.
3️⃣ Living Room
The living room is anchored by a simple five-metre travertine sintered stone console that runs across the wall — one of the key features of the space. Paired with a modular sofa, the layout can be rearranged depending on how we want the space to feel that day.
4️⃣ Dining Area
We chose a round table to soften the space and make everyday meals feel a little more relaxed. When friends come over, it extends into an oblong table so we can seat more people comfortably.
5️⃣ Pantry Tap
One of the most practical decisions in our dining area was adding a pantry tap. It allows guests to get water easily and makes hosting a little more convenient, especially with our closed concept kitchen.
6️⃣ Dining Room Details
In one corner of the living room, our robot vacuum sits quietly, always ready for its next cleaning run. Above the pantry, a stainless steel shelf breaks up the heavier wood tones and adds a slightly more industrial touch to the space.
7️⃣ Kitchen
The kitchen and yard were combined into one continuous space to maximise countertop area and functionality. This is probably our favourite part of the home — every appliance here was carefully chosen over time to suit how we actually live and cook.
8️⃣ Bathroom
The bathroom is finished in Italian travertine tiles to create a slightly more hotel-like feel. Beyond aesthetics, the space was planned mainly around ease of maintenance and everyday usability.
9️⃣ Vanity & Storage
The vanity is built with marine plywood to better withstand humidity, and the extended mirror cabinet provides plenty of hidden storage. We chose a Milano toilet bowl for its wider seat and overall comfort for both ourselves and guests.
🔟 Bedroom
The same laminate is carried throughout the house and continues into the bedroom for a more seamless look. Clean lines, simple furniture, and a calm palette make this our place to properly switch off and rest at the end of the day.
